Empowering Young Women: CGG and OSI Africa Foster Post-Elections Reflection in Kenema and Makeni

Campaign for Good Governance (CGG) partnered with the Open Society Africa (OSA) to facilitate a transformative initiative in Kenema and Makeni, Sierra Leone.

This initiative, a Post-Elections Reflection dialogue, brought together members of the Young Women in Democracy Forum (YWDF) under the theme “Reimagining Young Women’s Participation in Decision Making and Counting their Voices.”

Recognizing the pivotal role young women play in shaping the nation’s future, the dialogue provided a crucial platform for YWDF members to reflect on the recently concluded elections and strategize for meaningful participation in decision-making processes at local and national levels.

Expert facilitators guided participants through robust discussions, insightful reflections, and proactive planning sessions. Topics ranged from the challenges young women face in accessing decision-making positions to innovative strategies for overcoming these barriers.

The dialogue fostered solidarity and collaboration among YWDF members, empowering them to amplify their voices and advocate for their rights effectively.

By counting their voices and recognizing their inherent worth, young women were inspired to step forward with confidence and assert their rightful place in the democratic landscape.

This engagement not only provided YWDF members with a space to reflect and strategize but also underscored the importance of inclusive governance and the imperative of ensuring diverse representation in decision-making bodies.

As Sierra Leone progresses, CGG and OSA remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower young women, advance democracy, and foster inclusive governance for the betterment of all.
