Building Peaceful Elections: CGG Trains Peace Ambassadors Across Sierra Leone
Campaign for Good Governance (CGG), with support from the International Republican Institute (IRI) through the ELECT project, embarked on a crucial mission to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process in Sierra Leone’s upcoming 2023 elections.
Through comprehensive training sessions, CGG empowered Peace Ambassadors from all 16 districts with essential knowledge on the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system, governance principles, and strategies for promoting peace and non-violence.
These Peace Ambassadors are poised to play a pivotal role in fostering a conducive environment for elections characterized by transparency, inclusivity, and respect for democratic values.
Equipped with a deep understanding of electoral processes and conflict resolution techniques, they are well-prepared to mitigate tensions and promote peaceful dialogue among diverse stakeholders.
By investing in the capacity-building of Peace Ambassadors, CGG and IRI are laying the foundation for a credible and inclusive electoral process that reflects the will of the people of Sierra Leone.
As the nation looks ahead to the 2023 elections, these trained ambassadors stand as beacons of hope, dedicated to upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring a peaceful transition of power.
